Hi Folks and welcome to March's post for Altered Eclectics.
This month I have altered the square drawers from DoCrafts Papermania Bare Basics range.
Here is what I made...
I first painted all the drawers and the outer base with a coat of white gesso.
I adhered DoCrafts Papermania wooden hearts to the sides of the outer base of the drawers.
On the top of the base, I made a random design with DoCrafts Papermania wooden alphabet and adhesive wooden letters. (I thought of creating this design with all the left over, random letters that don't spell out any words... we all have these don't we and never know what to do with them....
Once the glue on the outer base designs had dried, I painted them with Colbalt Blue DoCrafts Artiste All Purpose Acrylic Paint. When the Colbalt Blue paint had dried, I dry brushed Artiste Blanc paint over the top to create a distressed look.
I painted the four drawer fronts with the Cobalt Blue paint. When the paint was dry I did the crackle paint technique - applying a layer of PVA glue then a layer of different coloured acrylic paint over the top while the glue was still wet. I used Artiste Acrylic Sea Spray Paint for the top layer.
I then applied a layer of Artiste Matt Varnish to protect the crackle.
I then used DoCrafts Papermania wooden bobbins painted Cobalt Blue for the handles of the drawers.
To finish I mixed the Cobalt Blue paint with the Blanc to make a lighter blue and used this colour to paint the inside, outside, back and base of the drawers. When it was dry, I dry brushed over the Blanc paint to match the outside base.
Thanks for popping by today,
hope to see you again soon.
Toodles for now,
